In-Vitro Fertilisation (IVF)

IVF or “in-vitro fertilisation” starts with ovulation induction and monitoring of follicular development by ultrasound scanning. Prior the egg retrieval, medications are taken to stimulate mature egg production, increasing the chances of healthy embryo development. At the appropriate time, the eggs retrieved by a minor surgical procedure where the doctor uses a device under ultrasound guidance to retrieve the eggs.

After retrieval, the eggs are fertilised with the sperm specimen prepared in a culture dish through a step called Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI). The embryo is then checked for development before it is transferred into the uterus of the women.
